In the late winter of 2020 this spunky 8th grader from Morrison messaged me asking me to come out and photograph her 8th Grade Night. I knew that she was out for the season due to a knee injury, so I was a bit intrigued as to why she’d go to the trouble of asking me to come.
They lined up for player introductions and here she comes hopping out on the floor on her one good leg with a big smile on her face. You gotta respect a kid who gets hurt but doesn’t wallow in self pity. She stayed a part of the team, just a different role.
Fast forward a week or so and here she is again on crutches cheering on her teammates at their tournament games.
After re-habbing the knee injury/surgery, she returned to athletics playing both Volleyball and Basketball as a Freshman at WCHS. Somewhere along the way this became her favorite pose for me.
Occasionally she does show other poses like this beauty from her Sophomore year.
Happy Birthday Lilly Cantrell! Thanks for getting most of my basketball photo nights off to a great start! 😛
